This course was a pleasure to play. The staff was very friendly upon our arrival. They helped get our clubs out of the car to the pro shop where the staff were all willing to answer questions and seemed to really have our best interest in mind. Although the course is relatively short at only 6,100 yards it plays more difficult than you would think. This being said, it is also forgiving enough that any level golfer can really enjoy him/herself.

In preparing for our round, we were a little disappointed at the practice facility. The driving range was ample but not particularly useful for much more than warming up. The putting green was large enough that eight or ten golfers could comfortably get ready at the same time but it seemed to be tucked in behind the driving range as an afterthought near the driveway to the course. This notwithstanding, the practice green rolled and played true to the greens on the course and as such was an excellent introduction to the greens yet to be experienced.

The course layout was really enjoyable. There were a number of blind shots including your tee shot off the second hole where a 15 foot periscope has been built next to the tee blocks so that you can see whether the group in front of you has completed their approach shots or not. If I had one complaint it would be that the greens were, for the most part, left unprotected. Sandtraps were often found off to the right and left of the greens but only on a few occasions were they right in front of the green presenting a real obstacle to be circumvented.

The old mature oaks and water fountains combined with the up and down fairways make this a difficult course to walk but provide an excellent opportunity to relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

One tip: If your ball is hit into the fescue - don't go after it. The tall (wild) grass is so thick that you will never find a ball (especially your own) in it.

Why: Sweeping left to right par 5. Water along the length of the right side with the fairway sloping towards the water at all times making it extremely difficult to shorten the hole without getting wet. A flat lie is scarce but you play into a big green where you cannot afford to be long. Very pretty hole from tee to green.
