| After many years of wanting to
play Glen Abbey, I was afforded the opportunity
and must say I was rather disappointed.
First off, I didn't pay the overpriced green
fee of C$240! If I had, I would have been very
upset. Glen Abbey is a very nice course that does
not offer enough bang-for-the-buck. There is too
much competition in the Greater Toronto Area that
provide far better value.
In terms of the course itself, I was surprised
that I didn't find it a particularly challenging
course off the tees. The fairways are very generous
and because I played early in the season, the
rough didn't offer much of a defense. The real
difficulty lies with the approach shot. Nicklaus
placed many green side bunkers strategically and
if the pins are in the right (or is that 'wrong')
placement - look out!
Overall, I am glad I played the course at least
once. I won't be rushing back anytime soon - unless
someone else is paying.
One last thing: do yourself a favour and drop
a ball in the fairway bunker on 18 that Tiger
hit the 218 yard 6 iron during the Canadian Open.
What a phenomenal shot! I did. Took one look and
picked my ball right back up.
Best Hole: #11
Why: Elevated Tee with very tough
approach shot.
