I had heard so much about this golf course and
had high hopes for it.
Firstly, the price ($50 CDN - weekday) is way
overpriced for the quality of the course. There
are much nicer courses in the area that offer
better value. The fairways were very dry
and the tee boxes were in awful condition. I needed
to use my sand wedge to hammer the tee into the
ground on a few holes.
There are absolutely no signs for each hole posted
at the tee boxes indicating where any hidden hazards
may lie. Additionally, some of the tee boxes had
absolutely no markings at all leaving you to guess
how far away the hold is. On one par 3, because
I didn't know the yardage, I over-clubed and had
my best swing of the day. The ball was long into
a hazard - very frustrating - enough to ruin the
day.
In terms of service, there are only two water
stations on the whole course (one per nine). The
food and beverage girl only managed to see us
a total of two times and my thirst got to me toward
the end of the round. I am not a beer drinker
when I'm golfing, but I could see many golfers
being upset at paying such a high green fee and
not being able to have an alcoholic beverage.
Save yourself the trip and try Guelph
Lakes or Hidden Lake instead. They represent
much better value for your hard earned cash.
